Boys/Mens stories are often about a physical journey; men going away- going to war, going to sea, going to seek their fortune. Girls/women's stories are more often about cooperation, friendship, teamwork and center around home and family. If there is a journey, it is usually an inner journey, accompanied by a change of heart or new point of view that resigns the girl to her life.
This painting merges and build on the two types to produce a different kind of tale.
In this image a woman sets off on an ocean journey with a canvas for a sail. The sea voyage is used as a metaphor for an inner, artistic journey. The wind is the creative force that drives her on. An auspicious beginning, with calm seas and clear skies.
This painting is the first of a series about the creative journey, using the ocean voyage as a metaphor.
This is a one-of-a-kind original painting, not a copy, print, or photograph. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
